Confusion equates to anger, peace equates to happiness.
Every session is held by secure video, so wherever you are in New Jersey, we can work together — from home, from the office, or anywhere you have privacy.
The only requirement is that you are physically located in New Jersey during each session, because that is where I am licensed.
Maybe it started slowly. Maybe something happened. Either way, you are managing — and it is costing you more than anyone can see.
You get through what has to be done and there is nothing left over. Rest does not restore anything, and the things that used to help do not touch it any more.
You plan for every outcome, replay conversations, and brace for the next thing. Even the quiet moments are busy.
The same argument keeps happening, or nothing happens at all. You are in the room and still somewhere else entirely.
Waiting lists, insurance questions, directories full of profiles that all sound the same. Looking for help has become one more exhausting task.
You do not have to figure this out alone. Reach out and we will start with one conversation
I am a direct, solution-focused counselor. That means we name what is happening, agree on what you want to be different, and work toward it deliberately.
You will get honest reflection rather than silence, and practical tools rather than homework for its own sake. Compassion and momentum are not opposites: the work is warm, and it is going somewhere. If something is not working, we say so and change it.
Everything is grounded in evidence-based approaches — CBT, DBT, EFT, CPT, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, MBCT, Narrative and family therapy, and psychoeducation — chosen to fit your goals, not the other way around.
We define what progress looks like so you can tell whether it is happening.
Ten-plus evidence-based approaches, applied to your situation rather than a template.
Straight talk from someone firmly on your side, whatever you bring into the room.
No lengthy intake maze and no guessing what comes next. Here is exactly how it goes.
Send a message or call. Tell me a little about what is going on — you do not need the right words, and you do not need to have it figured out first.
We talk briefly so you can ask questions, hear how I work, and decide whether it feels like a fit. No pressure, no commitment.
In our first full session we map out what you want to change and which approaches fit your goals, your history, and your pace.
Every session gives you something to work with between sessions. We track what is shifting and adjust as you go.
Worried about the first session? Most people are. It is a conversation, not an interview — you decide how much to share and when. By the end of it you will know what we are working on and what happens next.

I'm Shannon Cahill, a New Jersey–licensed therapist offering direct, solution-focused teletherapy to adults anywhere in the state — individually, as couples, and as families. I work with anxiety, depression, trauma, OCD, ADHD, adjustment disorder, and relationships. With 13 years of experience across all levels of care, I help people build resilience, improve emotional regulation, and create lasting change.
People are complex, and so are their answers. I work qualitatively — with your emotions and lived experience, not a formula — because I genuinely want to understand you.
I’m currently in the final stages of completing my Ph.D. in Psychology and am actively fulfilling my clinical residency requirements.
You're needing to fall in love with yourself.

Comfort zones are death traps for human beings.
A solo practice, not a clinic mill. You work with me, and the work is built around you.
I accept Aetna, Cigna, Curative, Horizon BCBSNJ, United Healthcare, Oscar, Oxford and more through Headway, so therapy stays affordable and the billing is handled for you.
You get honest feedback, clear goals, and practical tools you can use this week — not months of circling the same ground.
I work with adults 18 and over — on their own, as couples, and as families — so the work can include the people around you when that helps.
Sessions from home, your office, or anywhere in New Jersey by secure telehealth.
I draw on CBT, DBT, EFT, CPT, MBCT, psychoeducation, and more, and match the method to you rather than fitting you to a method.
Whatever brings you here has a context. My job is to understand it with you and help you move, not to grade you on it.
Most likely, yes. I am in network with these plans through Headway, which verifies your benefits and handles the billing before your first session.
Not sure if you are covered? I will help you check. Send me your plan name and I will walk you through what to look for — or start on Headway, which shows your expected cost per session up front.
Therapy is a relationship built on trust, so here is what stands behind me — my licensure, education, and clinical training, which inform every session.
The questions people ask most before booking. If yours is not here, just ask — no obligation.
Yes. All sessions are currently held by secure video telehealth, and I work with clients anywhere in New Jersey. You need to be physically located in New Jersey during our sessions, because that is where I am licensed.
I accept Aetna, Carelon Behavioral Health, Cigna, Curative, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, Horizon BCBS NJ Medicare Advantage, Independence Blue Cross PA, Oscar, Oxford, Providence Health Plan, United Healthcare, and United Healthcare Medicare Advantage. Insurance clients book through my Headway profile, which verifies benefits and handles billing before the first session.
If you are using insurance, book through my Headway profile — it checks your coverage and shows your expected cost up front. If you are paying privately or want to talk first, contact me directly and we will set up a free consultation. I aim to respond within one business day.
The first session is a conversation, not a test. I ask about what brought you here, what you have already tried, your history and health, and what you want to be different. You stay in control of how much you share. By the end we agree on what we are working toward and what the next few sessions will look like.
I work with adults (18+). I offer individual, couples, and family therapy, all by secure telehealth anywhere in New Jersey.
I work with anxiety, depression, trauma and PTSD, OCD, ADHD, adjustment disorder, relationship issues, substance use, stress management, women’s issues, and identity issues. I use evidence-based approaches including CBT, DBT, EFT, CPT, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused CBT, MBCT, Narrative Therapy, and psychoeducation.
Private pay is available. Contact me directly and I will tell you the current session fee and what to expect, and you will receive a Good Faith Estimate in writing before we begin, as required by the No Surprises Act.
Direct, solution-focused, and warm. I will reflect back what I notice rather than wait for you to arrive at it alone, and sessions are built around goals you set. If you want therapy that produces movement rather than a weekly recap, we will likely work well together.
